Abstract

The Vinten extremity dosemeter is designed as a disposable thermoluminescence dosemeter to provide specific information related to low energy photon and beta radiation fields. A study was carried out to explore the possibility of re-using the dosemeter. This is particularly useful for improving the precision when calibrating a batch of dosemeters. Also it would be possible to research the characteristics of the dosemeter by changing the conditions for an individual dosemeter. A similar standard deviation was observed between individual dosemeters in the batch for a given cycle of measurement and between six cycles of measurement for a given dosemeter (15% coefficient of variation at an absorbed dose of 25 mGy in ICRU tissue).
