    Abstract

It is proposed to carry out a series of experimental studies of particle deposition and retention in the human respiratory tract designed to provide information which will enable improvements to be made to lung clearance models, especially those used to assess the consequences of exposure to airborne radioactive particles. Experimental details are discussed in terms of the nasal passage, the tracheobronchial region, and the pulmonary region. Refs.
