Abstract

National Radiological Protection Board has set up three solar radiation measurement systems in the UK at the NRPB centres Chilton (latitude ~52°N), Leeds (54°), and Glasgow (~56°N). Simultaneous measurements of visible radiation (wavelength range, 400-700 nm), ultraviolet UV-A radiation (320-400 nm) and ultraviolet UV-B radiation (280-320 nm) are being made. The results for 1988/89 which have been compared with calculated irradiances of ultraviolet radiation are published illuminance date and are summarised here. -from Authors
