N2 - The performance requirements of personal dosemeters stem from the ICRP recommendations on the acceptable uncertainties in individual monitoring given in ICRP Publication 35. In another invited paper given at the Workshop, Dr Christensen has discussed the interpretation of the above ICRP recommendations on acceptable uncertainties and in particular the way in which these vary with the dose level for doses ranging from the dose limits down to the minimum measurable dose. He has also presented a convention for the combination of systematic and random errors which is applicable to personal dosimetry. The paper examines type test data for several types of dosemeter, i.e. film, TLD and electronic dosemeters for the measurement of photon radiations in terms of H(p)(10) and H(p)(0.07) and neutron dosemeters, i.e. nuclear emulsions and PADC for the measurement of H(p)(10) in order to assess the feasibility of meeting these requirements with current or future dosemeter designs.
