Abstract
This session will explore the interplay between open research and impact in increasing the footprint of research and enhancing its relevance beyond academia. As open research practices become increasingly embedded across institutions, how can they be further used to support the impact agenda? And, in an increasingly measured and metricised world, what evidence is there to demonstrate the connection between open research and research impact?
Participants will investigate the key intersections between open research and impact and reflect on strategies to recognise and maximise the benefits that could arise. Facilitated group discussions, large and small, will offer the opportunity to identify the different ways through which organisations can integrate open research practices into their approach to assessing and delivering impactful research.
This is an exploratory session intended to generate insights and further avenues of exploration as a jumping off point for sector and internal engagement on open research and impact – whether with researchers, senior administrators, the communities we live and operate in, or the policymaker, funder and industry partners with whom we collaborate.
There are clear links to be explored between open research and impact and we think it’s about time we got together to talk about it!
