International approaches to setting radioactive discharge authorisations

    A review has been undertaken of current international approaches to the setting of authorisations to discharge radionuclides. The western European countries with a significant nuclear power programme have been considered (United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain). In addition, the current approaches to setting discharge authorisations in Canada, Finland, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA have also been reviewed.
