Abstract

Antenatal alterations of broncho-pulmonary development after exposure of the foetus to external factors such as passive smoking, prematurity, drugs or nutritional deficiencies can cause long lasting lungs injuries. Those effects on development may depend on developmental stages and on genetic susceptibility. Some of the effects may induce livelong alterations of lung function.
