Abstract
Press reports of 4-5 November 1987 of massive levels of fallout from Chernobyl were responded to by providing a whole-body monitor at Ilkley and by answering questions from the public. Having created the concern, the media reported fully the reassurances afforded by these responses. -K.Clayton
