Abstract

Methods for immobilizing diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) on polysaccharides are described. DTPA immobilized on cellulose and on starch through 1,6‐diaminohexane, or through the p‐aminobenzyl moiety, bound heavy metal cations and removed them from solution. The binding capacity of the starch‐1,6‐diaminohexane DTPA conjugate was greater than that of the other forms of immobilized DTPA.
