Abstract
515 isolates of Listeria (513 L. monocytogenes, 2 L. ivanovii) from cases of human listeriosis occuring in the UK between 1990-95 were tested for resistance to a range of antimicrobial agents. Sixteen isolates exhibited resistance to tetracycline (MIC >128mg/l) and four exhibited resistance to ciprofloxacin (MIC = 8mg/l). Eleven of the 16 tetracycline-resistant isolates were indistinguishable by serotyping and phage-typing. (c) Birkhäuser Verlag,.
