In 2023, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) Science Strategy outlined a commitment to deliver a Research Impact Framework to ensure its research is impactful in reducing the effects of all hazards and improves the population’s health. Through this work UKHSA will ensure that appropriate principles, tools and methodologies are used to plan for, measure and track impact of research. An early output of this programme is the Robotham-Fahle Index, a spreadsheet for tracking impacts of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) research. The Index was tested and refined and is being used to track activities, outputs and impact for AMR work conducted by UKHSA and the University of Oxford.
